Poll: Help us choose the pet charity to support!

Which pet charity should GrumpyCats.com support!

When we started selling the Grumpy Cat Christmas Cards we said we would donate a portion of the proceeds to a pet charity! It is your support of Grumpy Cat allowing this to happen, so we would like you to decide!

So, I’m including five options on the poll with the fifth being “other.” If you choose ‘other’ please submit your suggestion as a comment! The first three were picked because they have an “A” rating CharityWatch’s Top-Rated Charities List.

If you know of a reputable no-kill shelter or a shelter that offers inexpensive spay/neuter clinics that could use the support please post a comment as well!

PetSmart Charities – “A” rating on CharityWatch.org

Friends of Animals – “A” rating on CharityWatch.org

Best Friends Animal Society – “A-” rating on CharityWatch.org

  1. Second Chance Animal, Inc. is an awesome grassroots non-profit rescue in Idaho/Washington that helps low-income families have their pets spayed/neutered. We also give FREE dog houses to outside pets and thousands of pounds of FREE kibble to hungry pets every year. We need your support, vote for us Mr. Grumpy!

Hoping one of them is the local one to Tard and Pokey. But multiple choices – go with your heart. Perhaps print out and let Tard choose. Which ever one she touches is the second. :)

I also support Second Chance Animal. Unfortunately there are thousands of dogs not lucky enough to be in warm shelters with regular meals and care. These dogs are held captive in yards on chains or in small pens, ignored by laws, with no shelter from freezing temperatures and snowstorms, with minimal care, food, or attention. These are just some of the animals that are helped by the brave volunteers of this small dedicated organization. They are in the field finding and helping these underprivileged animals. They supply doghouses, food, spay and neuter, labor to improve living spaces, and more. A few weeks ago they built a lean-to from scrap materials so a small horse they stumbled on could get out of the rain and snow. They are having a big impact on the lives of as many animals as they can afford to help. Please check their website or on Facebook at Second-Chance-Animal.

There’s two local (to me, Chicago, IL) no kill shelters that pop to mind, maybe you could consider them for future donations. The first one is the Anti-Cruelty society- http://www.anticruelty.org The second is PAWS, http://www.pawschicago.org/
